I'm a huge fan of all five of Riordan's mythological series, and most of his supplementary works to those story lines, but I'm a bit disappointed in this one. Riordan left some threads for future Magnus Chase adventures at the end of the last novel (like sitting on Hlidskalf someday), so I was expecting some good adventures, like the short stories written for Percy Jackson which added or picked up threads from those novels. Disappointingly, except for a name drop, Magnus isn't even IN these stories! Each of these stories is told from the perspective of a different character in the series, from Odin to Amir (good move); they're entertaining, but very short (I read the whole book in less than 2 hours) and really add nothing to the characters or the Norse world story lines.Bottom line: worth picking up at the library, but don't waste your money buying it.

9 From the Nine Worlds Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard Rick Riordan 9781368024044 Books Reviews
A bunch of tales to make the characters that don’t get more time in the novels stand out means to show that they r important and to make the main story complete tell these characters unique points so that thy r important to the main characters
it's ok but not the best Rick Riordan book I ever read. It doesn't get into there character much so you have to read the other books to under stand whats happening. But I do think it's clever how the whole book revolves around Thor taking a jog through the 9 worlds. And also it teaches you a lot about the 9 worlds. So over all if you want to do some light reading then read this but if you really want to read a book and be serious about it don't read this.
There is not much cohesion between the short stories contained in this book. It was not what I expected, which was to be a story about Magnus Chase and his compatriots. The only link between the stories was Thor running through the nine worlds. What a ripoff!
First off I am a fan Mr. Riordans books because you can escape to a world of mythology and adventure, but 9 From the Nine Worlds left unsevered ties on how Surt managed to work his way into this book without having Magnus in it because isn't Surt's arch enemy Magnus because he's destined to wield Jack.
Aside from all that I and probably many fans would like a crossover with Magnus and Percy and eventually have a crossover between Carter, Percy, and Magnus.
Aside from that (pardon my redundance)it was an amazing book for me to read just waiting on the Tyrant's Tomb good luck.
If you haven't read the rest of the Magnus Chase series this would make little sense to you.
This is a series of short stories that seem like add on thoughts that probably could have been included in an actual book. i almost felt as if the author was being lazy and not wanting to write a whole book but wanted to get something published. The stories them selves are ok but lack the normal detail the author usually provides. I guess i was just a bit disappointed in it considering the price, I am normally one who will pay a little more to get a physical copy vs an ebook. In my opinion this book is something that should be priced under $5 so if you want to read this i would recommend just getting the eBook
I was excited to see another Magnus Chase book out there as the first three were pretty good. This was a little bit of a let down. It's only a set of short stories that don't add up to a whole lot. I'd probably have not minded if it was at a cheaper price point. All in all, it's a semi-entertaining read. I wish I'd have spent the money on the second Dragonwatch book however.
I have been a huge fan of Rick Riordan. It’s almost as if he was under the pressure to deliver something to his publisher. While I love Magnus Chase and other ensemble, these stories were literally puked to fill pages. There is no personality, no depth, nothing that is worthy of fans.
How did Rick Riordon agree to put his name on this work?
